Common Questions & Answers

When spending money on a motor vehicle there should be questions for the company doing the work. Below we have compiled a list of what we consider to be common questions along with our professional answers. Our answers are based off of our experience in the industry. If you have any questions that are not listed below please contact us.

There are many determining factors: parts availability, quality of replacement parts available, type of build, full frame, original restoration vs. restomod, etc.

Because of all of these variables, the process is unique to every project and therefore the amount of time before completion will be different as well.

It is impossible to give an exact cost. No two vehicles are the same. There are many variables to be taken into consideration. Estimates are often inaccurate due to the nature of the restoration process in which "hidden surprises" are discovered. Due to this, Old Iron Offroad will do our very best to provide you with an initial estimate before the build is started.

An additional assessment will be given after the vehicle has been completely disassembled and body has been stripped down to its bare substrate. However this can only be a "ballpark figure" and not a guarantee of cost or labor.

All pricing is determined by the time, material, and parts needed for completion. Throughout the build there will be regular communication, to provide updates and to get approval to move forward on any unexpected repairs.

Yes. Customers can provide their own parts, as long as it does not impede progress being made on the build, Also be aware that we are not responsible for the quality of the parts, or able to absorb the cost of labor in the event that there is a part failure.

Old Iron Offroad has carefully chosen vendors that supply quality parts and services that we can stand behind.

First and foremost. THIS IS NOT NORMAL!! We have heard more than a handful of times "oh that is just how these things are". Well that is simply just not true. Typically, the issue lies within one or a combination of several worn out or commonly overlooked parts to include a possible lack of positive caster. We have the expertise to make your vehicle comfortable to drive with one hand at interstate speed.

Scouts have a reputation for rust. Not surprising since they were designed as utility vehicles. Unlike other brands, the Scout has limited options for the replacement of most body parts. At Old Iron Offroad we are very familiar with the problem areas for rust. We offer each customer a plan to get any rust under control as well as ways to minimize future issues with rust.

No. We are passionate about what we do. We also understand projects have budgets and that sometimes the dream takes a phased approach. Our business is built on repeat customers...that's a huge part of our daily work.
